She expressed this position in an interview with our colleagues from RFI, which ICILOME echoed. To the question, "Are there effective means of preventing this contagion of a coup d’etat in the region ?", here is what she gives as an answer...
"Effective means, it is sure that it is work that does not happen overnight. We would have preferred that the firmness that ECOWAS expresses today, that it wants to express in the form of an intervention violent military, whether it expressed it when Constitutions were modified, elections were rigged or corruption became rampant. Besides, there is a paradox, it is that the general who made the coup he State in Niamey was himself implicated a few years ago for the embezzlement of funds which were made available to equip the Nigerien army.Today he poses as a defender of the Nigerien people, he denounces the lack of results of the fight against terrorism until further notice. It is the military who are responsible for ensuring security and territorial integrity and not a democratically elected President of the Republic".
