The storm is still far from over in the political family of Gilchrist Olympio, the national president of the Union of Forces for Change (UFC, leader of the opposition). And for good reason, two dates are announced for the party congress.

First date, May 20 for an extraordinary congress, according to the article published by the colleague REPUBLIC OF TOGO. And he specifies that the work will be led by Vice-President Elliot OHIN and will essentially consist of the renewal of the Board of Directors.

The reaction of the other camp was not long in being known, speaking of a congress convened "without the majority of the elected members of the Board of Directors and the majority of the federal offices of the UFC who would normally be the delegates to the congress have been informed".

According to them, subject to the OK of Mr. Olympio, the 27th and 28th would be better suited for this congress so awaited by the public.

COMMUNIQUE FROM THE UFC DIRECTOR’S OFFICE
(Related to the party congress)

As part of the organization of the unitary congress of the Union of Forces for Change (UFC), various meetings were held at several levels under the initiative of the National President of the party, Doctor Gilchrist OLYMPIO.

In this dynamic, it was agreed as follows :

 The establishment of a preparatory committee of six (06) members at the rate of three (03) per group led respectively by Maître HOMAWOO Jean Claude, special adviser to the PN and Mr OHIN Elliott, 2nd Vice-president ;

 Formal exchanges between the two groups for the harmonization of texts and documents to serve as a basis for discussions during the congress ;

 Obtaining the agreement of the National President on the documents and on the date chosen in a consensual manner.

A congress would be organized on May 20, 2023 without the majority of the elected members of the Board of Directors and the majority of the federal offices of the UFC who would normally be the delegates to the congress having been informed. The latter reject this fact and ask that the six (06) members of the preparatory committee meet again to agree together on the date of the holding of the congress.

Moreover, it is indeed a congress and not a general assembly to be in order with the new provisions of the charter of political parties. The holding of such a congress under such conditions would oblige the members of the Steering Committee to seize the administrative or even judicial authorities.

The majority of the members of the Board of Directors would opt for a unitary congress on May 27 and 28, 2023 and we will keep you informed after the opinion of the National President.
