The WFP “helps out” the victims !

A thousand Togolese households victims of flooding and food insecurity will benefit from assistance from the WFP (World Food Program) and ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), in collaboration with the Togolese government.
A vast humanitarian assistance operation is therefore launched on the initiative of the three and will reach the populations victims of flooding and food insecurity in Togo.
These beneficiaries, i.e. 1,000 households for around 5,000 people, will be entitled to food and nutritional kits, then 1,717 other households, including pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. This will make a total of 13,585 beneficiaries.
This aid will, it is indicated, be distributed in 19 prefectures of the five economic regions of Togo, namely the Maritime, Plateaux, Centrale, Kara and Savanes regions.
“This operation is not limited to an immediate response. It also aims to strengthen resilience and promote the sustainable recovery of our communities. On this day, we are not just launching a relief operation ; we reaffirm our commitment to the most vulnerable in our society”, this is also what Moïse Ballo, Representative and Country Director of WFP, also indicated to our colleagues at Afreepress.
