After a first successful experience during 2021 and 2022, the town hall of the Municipality of Golfe 1 led by Principal Mayor Joseph Koamy Gbloèkpo Gomado is doing it again. And this time in the most beautiful way possible. Indeed, supported by Ecobank Togo, the Town Hall of Bè Afédomé has decided to grant a repayable subsidy of 100,000 CFA francs and 50,000 CFA francs to women (around a hundred) who carry out income-generating activities on various market platforms within its territorial jurisdiction. The envelope delivery ceremony took place this Thursday at the Bè Community Center.

During this ceremony, we could note the presence of officials from the Town Hall but also from Ecobank Togo as well as beneficiaries for whom accounts were opened immediately ; and information on reimbursement terms was given to them.

Explanations from the Director of Social Affairs of the Municipality of Golfe 1, Ms. Mazalou Nimon, who is leading the PIEF (Promotion of Women’s Economic Initiatives) project of the Municipality of Golfe 1), “this is phase 2” of this project tested in 2021, and whose main objective is to “contribute to the promotion of women’s economic initiatives, that is to say, to help them to be financially independent, and to relieve them a little in the management of their households…”, this, by granting identified vulnerable women in the Municipality of Golfe 1, a repayable subsidy.

Still according to the head of the Town Hall, in the first phase carried out in 2021, “we awarded the subsidy to 20 women. This time, we are expanding it to 100 women. The first beneficiaries having paid well and honored their commitment, the municipal executive wanted it to be expanded to 100 women. So for this time, the 20 women in the first phase will take an amount of 100,000 F CFA, so it has doubled for them, and the new ones, 50 in number, will take 50,000 F CFA, to support their income-generating activities and encourage them. to good management”.

Monitoring and reimbursement

For information, this grant is repayable over a period of 13 months. But first, these women beneficiaries are entitled to a period of two months of turnover on these funds in order to allow them to better establish their activity before the start of the reimbursement which is done each according to the explanations, each Friday at noon at the latest. at an express point. And to get there, the Town Hall had to collaborate with Ecobank Togo, to professionalize the process and therefore the entire operation. If according to the Director of Social Affairs of the Municipality of Golfe 1, "They (the women beneficiaries, editor’s note) will ride on the funds for two months before the start of reimbursement, to the tune of 1000 F per week, for those who took 50,000 F CFA, and 2000 F for those who took 100,000 F CFA", follow-ups are organized at the points of sale, their place of exercise of their activities to see how things are going. As for the monitoring of reimbursements, it is done using the Omni software made available to the Town Hall by its partner Ecobank Togo and which informs the Town Hall agents in charge of monitoring, each time one of the beneficiaries makes a payment, from the account she opened from her cell phone.

New and old beneficiaries, all were invited by Ms. Mazalou Nimon, “to honor their commitments, especially since the task is lightened for them. And to honor the CDQ presidents and traditional chiefs who identified them.”
