The populations invited to discover the first products of the genius of these neo-artisans and to obtain them at the Bè Market

Remove at least 100 young drug addicts from the ghettos located on its municipal territory. This is one of the objectives of a project developed and carried out by the Town Hall of the Municipality of Golfe 1. It is in fact a project which, ultimately, dreams of putting drug addicts to work a factor in improving their living conditions and thereby a lever for stabilization and relapse prevention, will be achieved, hopes the trainer.
Called the Social Reintegration Project for young residents of the Bè ghettos (Gulf 1 Municipality), this project, started in December 2022, is already producing its fruits, and much better, on the ground.
Aiming to gradually support drug addicts, on a psychological and health level, to abandon the use of psychoactive substances, this project implemented by the Gulf town hall1 promotes the self-employment of drug addicts through training in manual manufacturing nylon objects. The training component, headed by Essozimna Minza, trainer and municipal agent, the project has, to date, enabled around twenty of these young people to weave and make several dozen chairs, bags, baskets, tables, fans , nets and other objects made from nylon thread. These popular products attract the curiosity of the inhabitants of the town, who come to purchase and enjoy them.
“We produce nylon bags in different kinds of designs and colors. There are bags that the good lady can use to go to the market instead of buying the plastic ones. When you use them, it can be between 5 and 10 years by the way so it’s something that is a little resistant”, this is what the trainer confided. And it’s not just nylon bags that provide support to these young drug addicts from the Bè Afédomé ghettos. “Apart from the bags, there are nets for the good ladies who sell the items in order to protect them ; there are also picot beds for getting some fresh air on the terrace, plastic chairs and tables for the terraces or the garden. In terms of garden tables, there are two categories, notably one made of iron and the other made of wood. Preference will depend on the client ; there are fans too,” also added the trainer who praised the seriousness of the young producers and invited the population to come to the Bè market, behind the water tower, where the products are displayed, to come and discover the masterpieces and encourage the authors through the purchase of their products.
By any description, these products, beyond their aesthetics, have resistance characteristics, which easily allows potential buyers to amortize the costs.
By participating in the effort of both the Town Hall and these young people, these potential purchasers of the products will thus contribute and perpetuate the financial empowerment of these young people ; something which will motivate them even more for this paradigm shift, and to make them ambassadors of this social reintegration advocated by the first municipal leaders.
