SAFER needs 23.5 billion CFA francs to maintain Togolese roads

To continue its mission of maintaining the national network, SAFER (Autonomous Road Maintenance Financing Company) needs this year 2024 to mobilize the sum of 23.5 billion CFA francs. At least that is the forecast revealed a few weeks earlier by SAFER during a meeting of executives from the Ministry of Public Works. It was clarified that this forecast only represents approximately 44% of the company’s real needs, estimated at 53.27 billion FCFA.
Also an opportunity for the Minister of Public Works, Zouréhatou Kassah-Traoré, to urge SAFER to carry out reforms as well as increased transparency in its contracting procedures.
Note that in 2023, the company reached a record in terms of expenditure for maintaining the national network, i.e. nearly 38 billion FCFA released.
