Possible evacuation of victims

This is planned by the Togolese government and populations in flood-prone areas are invited to take steps in this direction.
Indeed, through a press release, dated June 7, 2024, the Togolese government therefore asks the populations throughout the territory, the maritime region and Greater Lomé, subject to heavy rainfall followed by flooding and considerable material damage, due to climate change, to be ready for possible evacuations.
This is an invitation given that the weather forecasts are not favorable and indicate the possibility of heavy rains which could affect flood-prone areas and lead to submersion or technical failure of protection installations such as retention basins.
It was also an opportunity for the government to recall this obligation to “obtain a building permit to undertake any construction project of any nature whatsoever”.
