Women around the world are in the spotlight this March 8, 2024 on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Around various themes and sub-themes relating to the education and training of young girls or better women and their important role within the community, the participants in this program organized by the two structures, the Municipality of Golfe 1 and Heidelberg Materials met in Lomé.

In a succinct description of what the Togolese woman is within the community, one of the women in the spotlight today in the commune of Golfe 1, Lady Amélé Atikpo, trader by profession and participant in this celebration , revealed that “God has endowed Togolese women with a lot of endurance and perseverance to evolve everything they do.” A way of understanding the Togolese woman which, in addition to the community, is also confirmed when the latter evolves within a well-organized structure like Heidelberg Materials. “Women are an essential, essential link in the activity within Heidelberg Materials and within Cimtogo. The woman cannot be replaced, cannot be subordinated, she has a place that nothing can replace. It is of course complementary to men, and within Heidelberg, women and men complement each other in the activity and in the missions that we must carry out for the well-being of society and also for our own well-being. be”, these are the additional details provided by the CSR Assistant within this company, Ms. Emmanuela Kpétigo.
Planting this celebration and the co-organized activity in its context, the Director of Social Affairs of the Municipality of Golfe 1, Bè Afédomé, Ms. Mazalou Nimon, indicated, “We wanted to change a little this year, go towards businesses who are on our municipal territory to have opportunities, for the young girl but also for the entire Gulf 1 community. We are there in relation to female leadership, to the education of the young girl in a school environment . Its very important. And then, the family unit is the basis of everything, the future of young girls comes from the family unit. We wanted to get closer to Cimtogo staff to hear their experiences, how they got there, and have a message to share in the community. And so, we were there with the market women, CDQ of the commune in general so that all the entities were represented to relay this information to the young girls to encourage them in their education, to know what message to convey to them to encourage them to let them study for a long time and be the best and cultivate excellence.”
From this organization we remember that it was a question of discussing "training on professions that women can do, which can be beneficial for them to advance in society", "the role of family education basically, what is this role in professional success", "should you undertake or be employed, knowing that the two complement each other but do not mix" and finally, take advice and comments closely mothers”…
This program being part of a dynamic of passing a message from the female staff to our young sisters through the presence of their mothers, Ms. Nimon and Ms. Kpétigo have retained two of their exchanges to pass on. For the first, “emphasis on education in the family unit. It’s not easy for parents to repeat the same thing and it becomes even more complicated with the advent of social networks. We invite you to continue by emphasizing the education of our young girls, we must not tire of it. Encourage all the women in the commune of Golfe 1 not to be discouraged, we know that times are hard but they must stand firm. Whether in entrepreneurship, at the structural level, we encourage them to have a lot of humility, forgiveness and collaboration with those around them for the success of our activities.” A message also well shared by the CSR Assistant of Heidelberg Materials, who for her part, invited her young sisters “not to give in to abandonment”. “You have to be resilient, be persevering in your quest. We must not give up on the slightest worry that life brings us. It could be financial problems, social problems. The fact of falling today does not mean that we have failed. I can fail several times before I succeed the 7th time. Abandonment should not be part of the vocabulary of Togolese women.”
These are useful tips on this day of commemoration, reflection and drawing attention to various situations that women experience throughout the world, with which Ms. Atikpo joined, who ultimately encouraged her sisters to more courage and commitment to “get our young girls to go further in their studies to be more successful tomorrow and bring their know-how to the building of Togo”. She was delighted with “the way we push women forward today”, something which, according to her, “honors” them.
A snack party between sisters and mothers ended this celebration.
