AIMES AFRIQUE orally in Lomé announces the colors of its 20 years of existence
The World Health Assembly takes place from May 27 to 31, 2024 at the headquarters of the WHO (World Health Organization) in Geneva, Switzerland. Dedicated to the field of Health through its various actions and strategies, the NGO AIMES AFRIQUE will indeed be there, and this together with its television channel, SOS Docteur TV.
To make this meeting a success and obtain the support of media people, especially privileged partners of the initiatives of this NGO founded by Dr Serge Michel Kodom, and which never misses any opportunity to prove itself, those responsible were at orally this Friday, May 24, 2024. This was thanks to a press conference with multiple dimensions.
Dimensions were discussed during this meeting to the extent that various important announcements were made ; some relating to the 2023 activity report of AIMES AFRIQUE, the others to the strong convictions of the NGO regarding the efforts to be made for access to health care by the populations in general and especially those of the peasant world, at the new milestones passed those of the 20 years of existence completed from January 2025, and above all the admission to the Board of Directors of CDC Africa, an AU body involved in disease prevention, and finally, the participation of AIMES AFRIQUE and its media arm, SOS Docteur TV, at the World Health Assembly.
Admission to the Africa CDC, for what impacts ?
For this admission, explained the founding president of AIMES AFRIQUE, this is a “moral satisfaction of having had the vision”, that of thinking from the creation, not only about the health of the Togolese populations, but about health for all. all over Africa. From this recognition, AIMES AFRIQUE and its leaders intend to draw “more motivation to defend their convictions even more”, and to fully play its role as the first NGO admitted to the Board of Directors of CDC Africa. For AIMES AFRIQUE, more than ever engaged alongside peasant populations, through its various free surgical operations and other projects in favor of community development, in terms of posture within this decision-making body of CDC Africa, “suggest some good ideas, make proposals, influence further and finally encourage vocations,” explained Dr Kodom.
As a reminder, before CDC Africa, the NGO AIMES AFRIQUE had already proven itself by sitting on the Economic and Social Council of the AU, where it also chaired one of the commissions.
Positioning of AIMES AFRIQUE and SOS Docteur TV in Geneva
Positioning will indeed be discussed in Geneva during the World Health Assembly. Alongside major health decision-makers in the world, the NGO AIMES AFRIQUE will not fail to make its voice heard and position itself. Arguments put forward today by the first person in charge, having already advanced its pawns through an “Appeal on the right to health of farmers”, well registered with the WHO, AIMES AFRIQUE has every right to take its place at the discussion table around the main theme of this Assembly, “All for health, and health for all”. Convinced that “health must be an essential issue”, the NGO will have to take part, among other things, in the work of the World Assembly but also in fringe activities, including discussions on health equity, participation in the meeting of ministers from the French-speaking world. As for its television, SOS Docteur TV, accredited for covering the work of the Assembly and the various activities set out, it will have to hold out the microphone and shine its spotlights and cameras on the most important players in the world of health (Ministers , Medical professors, Doctors, politicians and other participants.

The theme of the festivities which start in January 2025 is revealed. “Reduction of inequalities among farmers in the face of security and climate issues”, it is around this theme that the various activities on the program of these festivities will be organized, according to Dr Kodom. He took the opportunity to invite media people to work alongside them against the inequalities in access to health care suffered by farmers and to commit to equity in care.
Right to health, and mechanisms
For AIMES AFRIQUE, the right to health is a major project that requires everyone’s contribution. And supports its founding president, there is reason to recognize the efforts made but also to propose constructive resolutions to move the lines, to the great happiness of farmers and anyone who needs better health care. In the opinion that this challenge cannot be met alone, he announced during this press conference the launch during his stay in Geneva of a network of 1000 CSOs (Civil Society Organization). Information provided to the press, this network must include organizations that work in the field of health and many others that influence the health of farmers. These factors range from economic to social, including education, environment and healthy behaviors, services, gender, culture and race.
Among other mechanisms, there is that of developing documents and procedures to “draw the attention of the authorities to the fact that there is still much to do for farmers”.
As a reminder, created in January 2005, AIMES AFRIQUE has to its credit, dozens of free surgical operations for the populations, actions outside Togo, in Benin, in Mali, etc., and thousands of patients relieved of their ailments, hundreds of people including modern health practitioners and traditional practitioners trained and sensitized, and several community development projects carried out.
